Quick tour in Kefalonia
Start your tour in Omala region by visiting the Monastery of St. Gerasimos, which is dedicated to the patron saint of the island. After worship the relics of the saint, descend the stairs to the church of the Virgin inside the Monastery, to find yourself in the small basement space where St. Gerasimos cloistered . At the winery the Association Producers Robola, near the Monastery of St. Gerasimos, try the famous white wine of Kefalonia, the Robola, which is predominantly produced in the area. Head to the Sami, enjoying the natural scenery on the edge of the National Park Enos. Visit Drogarati Cave in Haliotata with the rare red stalactites and stalagmites. From Sami head to Antisamos, an oval pebbled beach which is surrounded by verdant mountain sides, for a refreshing swim in the Ionian Sea. Returning from Antisamos, and before you get to Sami turn left into an alley to see the ancient acropolis of Sami, the ruined monastery of Fanenton Saints and the monastery of Virgin of Agrilia. In the village Karavomilos, just outside the town of Sami, visit the magnificent cave of Melissani and board on the boats for a tour in the cave.
Follow the road to the picturesque village of St. Euphemia, where you will find cafes and taverns to take a rest. Cross the valley Pylaros and look for the signs on the main road where you can admire Myrtos from above, the most beautiful beach of the island and get to it for an enjoyable dip in the turquoise waters. In the village over Myrtos, Divarata, there are taverns where you can try local and cooked meat from the farms of the region. Then depart towards Fiskardo. Make a detour for a short visit in the peninsula of Assos. A unique landscape is created by the Venetian castle and the picturesque. Exit the main road again and continue to the cosmopolitan Fiskardo. Make a tour in the village to admire the preserved houses and the traditional architecture. Before leaving the area take the time to visit the neighboring picturesque villages. Return to Argostoli from the coastal path where you will be enchanted by the landscape of the western coast of the island.
Alternatively, you can combine a visit to the National Park of Enos, walk in the fir forest and climb to the top, where the view is unique.
